Mobile app

A SCADYS mobile app is planned. Nothing about it has been ruled yet, so this page records only what already applies to it and the questions it will raise.

What already applies

The Foundations are written to describe the design rather than one panel, so most of them hold for a phone as they do for a display.

  • Colour and night. The colour roles, the reserved meanings of red, green and yellow and the amber night palette.
  • Typography. The two typefaces and the rule that values use digits of equal width.
  • Legibility, motion and touch. Data as the brightest element, colour never the only cue, a still decimal point, one finger for everything and action on release.
  • Not the canvas. Pixel positions, the 720 × 720 canvas and the MDD500 corner arcs belong to the displays.
  • Source. Foundations, display-neutral by default.
Not yet ruled

Everything specific to the app is open, including what it is for, which pages it shows, how its layouts fit a phone's screen, how its gestures sit beside the phone's own system gestures, and whether it follows the phone's light and dark mode or the display's day and night mode.

None of these is yet raised in a spec.
